Sloppy management (1941) is called an "autobiographical novel". At the beginning of the book, one of the women in Jan Campert's life tells him that he has a "too sloppy heart." "I always hear stories about women and you, Lucie said, I rarely hear anything about your work." The writer must confirm this: "I had a sloppy management of my heart …"
In the course of the book, the outbreak of the war comes on the scene, almost in passing. Campert describes his initial reactions to this. "With every fiber I am connected to this people. I feel every shiver that flutters over it. I can not avoid it. "
Jan Campert is best known for his resistance poem" The eighteen dead ". He was arrested in 1942 for his activities in the resistance, and died in 1943 in the Neuengamme concentration camp. (summary by Anna Simon)
